Lock It Up, Winter Park!

The Winter Park Police Department's “Lock It Up!” campaign is designed to educate residents and visitors on how they can help reduce crime in our City. Unfortunately crime in Central Florida is on the rise and the Police Department wants to provide you with important information that would be useful to help combat the increasing problems of a rising crime rate.

Crime is up everywhere even in the City of Winter Park. If everyone just followed some simple, common sense rules then a large percentage of property crime would be PREVENTABLE! From January 1st to June 30th, over 50% of the reported vehicle burglaries in the City were to UNLOCKED vehicles. During this same time frame, 61% of the reported residential burglaries were to UNLOCKED residences.

Lock your doors & windows. Help us help you by locking every door and window in your house when you leave even for a short period of time such as working in your yard. Keep your garage door, if you have one, closed at all times. Don’t leave your cell phone, laptop, gun, etc in the car. If you must leave valuables in your car, secure them in the trunk.

Together we can reduce the opportunities that criminals have to commit these crimes.

Remember, Don’t Be a Statistic, Be Smart and Lock It Up Winter Park!
