The City of Winter Park has contracted
with Emergency Communications Network, Inc., of Ormond Beach, Florida,
for its "CodeRED" high-speed telephone emergency notification
services. The CodeRED system gives city officials the ability to
deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information
messages to targeted areas or the entire city at a rate of up to
60,000 calls per hour. This is a new and improved system since last
year’s hurricanes. Calls will be made in a more timely manner.
The City has established a database
from local listed numbers. To ensure no one is omitted, Chief Ball
urges all individuals and businesses who have unlisted numbers or
use a cell phone as their primary phone, to follow the link to the
"CodeRED
Residential and Business Data Collection". Those without
Internet access may call the Community Services Division of the
Winter Park Police Department at 407-599-3455 (Officer Steve McDaniel),
Monday through Friday, (8AM-4PM) to give their information over
the phone. Required information includes first and last name, street
address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code,
and primary phone number, additional phone numbers (optional). This
system will be used to notify City residents and businesses only.
